Nuts about Sketches 153

Its MONDAY so that means another AWESOME reveal from Shawn at Nuts about Sketches. And this week I LOVED the sketch so much that I make TWO different variations.

This was the sketch we got to work with

The first use of this sketch was pretty straight forward and I didn't make many changes. I took two of the 5x3.5 photos and split them into half to make more room for photos. I also used my Bo Bunny flex ruler to make the grassy hills. My main embellishments were some old Sassafras chipboard that finally found the perfect home AND a Queen and Company felt fusion title. I cut it apart and mated it onto different colors to tie in the color scheme and lessen the harshness of it being black.

The second variation I had so much fun creating! When I saw the big block at the bottom of this sketch (and somewhat at the top) I knew I could use it to make a 2 pger about my son and his train ride. I then thought I could make a WHOLE train car with a caboose and everything!! Yeah!!

I took the sketch and flipped it upside down. I once again split the 5x3.5 photo areas into four photo areas. I took so many great photos of my son's many face expressions that I had to use more photos. I also used a 4x6 vertical photo instead of the suggested 5x7 horizontal photo.

I used the awesome Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge to make the rail road tracks and all the different cars. I cut them at 2.5 to 1.25 inches. I then added brads to the wheels to give some extra dimension and visual interest. I also included a railroad sign for more fun! And the clouds are cut using Graphically Speaking. Lastly, I inked the layout in different colors- light brown at the bottom and below the tracks, for dirt, blue at the top by the clouds and yellow in between. I just had so much fun making all the die cuts and putting together this fun and playful layout!!
