Sketchy Thursdays

Good evening!! I have the latest Sketchy Thursday sketch to share!

We had our very own SPRING MYSTERY!! A beautiful bird showed up one Saturday afternoon and at first I thought it was a statue, but 6 hours later the bird was still there. So, I concluded it was a mother bird sitting on some eggs. I was so excited and couldn't wait to see the eggs when they hatched. The bird, a Mourning Dove, sat non-stop for over 4 days. And then shortly after the bird just disappeared and no eggs had hatched. I was pretty bummed and now it is our mystery as to why that bird was there.

 For this layout I used Basic Grey Origins papers to put this layout together. The green vine and buttons is from Little Red Cottage! I layered some patterns strips and a die cut border below the photos. I also scattered some flowers and brads. And finally I doodled a border.

Weekend Scrapbooking

Hello!! I have had so much scrapbooking this weekend (when do I not! ) and I wanted to share my completed layouts! And tomorrow I have a NUTS ABOUT SKETCHES Design Team reveal!! YEAH!! 

The first one is one I started a long time ago, but I wanted my sister to do the journaling since its the FIRST layout (many more are to come) introducing her new puppy Zader! He is the most loveable big brute you have ever seen! 

I used a Page Map for this layout; mainly because I love the row of embellies in the middle. I used a mix of die cut flowers layered on circles and/or circles layered with brads. And my sister loved the layout as well!

The second layout I finally completed was about my Mom and her visit last May. I used a Nuts about Sketches sketch and some OLD stash! Don't you just LOVE it when you use up old stuff and find a home for it! 

I used some old Basic Grey Offbeat rub-ons and some old chipboard flowers I had laying around. I also used Basic Grey Origins rub-ons as well. I loved this particular sketch since it had a great row of embellishments down the side. Otherwise this was pretty simple layout full of color to coordinate with Captain and Grandma's shirts PLUS all the fun we had.

Weekend Scrapbooking

Good morning! I wanted to share a few layouts a finished up this weekend! 

This first one is of my son down in Old Sacramento being oh-so-photogenic while looking at his badge. I am so lucky to have a son who doesn't mind me taking his pictures AND loves to make the BEST faces for me. 

I used a Page Map sketch for this one and took the large photo section and divided into 3 skinny photos. I used one of FAVORITE Basic Grey's collections Marjolaine. It has such awesome patterns and colors AND goes with so many themes. I used Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge to make the star borders and stars. I then added some small circles to the tip to symbolize his sheriff badge. I also die cut a city scape.

A second layout I did was of the making of our family Christmas card. I decided at 9:30pm at night  that I wanted to get the picture so we all go OUT of our pajamas and got into clothes. It took many tries, but we finally got a good picture (the upper left photo).

I used a Page Map from book 2. I used Basic Grey Jovial for my pps. As far as embellishments I used layered flowers with chipboard centers and added some Stickles to them.

And lastly, I finished a simple layout for my son's first year scrapbook. I only have 4 to 6 layouts left to finish it and I am really hoping to finish by 3/28 (his 2nd birthday). Wouldn't that be awesome! 

I used a Got Sketch? sketch for my design. And the journaling includes some highlights of his 11th month. Pretty simple, but DONE! :)

Scrapbook Layouts- Fourth of July

I spent most of this rainy day scrapbooking my FIRST design team assignment while my son watched his favorite show "Yo Gabba Gabba." And boy does the 'Mommy guilt' kick in! I just felt so guilty for scrapbooking and not giving him my one-on-one time even though he was on the floor (right by me) with the computer; perfectly content. I just really wanted to scrap and enjoy my weekend. But, the guilt just eats at me! And, our morning was just CRAZY since we couldn't go outside! My son was into EVERYTHING and destroying Daddy's wallet. It was a pretty fun, hectic morning that result in an almost 4 hour nap! Wow! 

So, with these long naps this weekend I have gotten a BUNCH of layouts done! Now, I just have to find time to upload to my sb.com gallery AND blog about them. There is just never enough time. :)

Last week I got the urge to do all THREE Fourth of July layouts. I had simple, but photo-packed sketches planned for them. I used a Becky Higgins sketch for the first one and Allison Davis sketches for the other two.

The first day of celebration was with my family at the Rodeo. I kept this layout very simple because the focus was on all the awesome, priceless family photos I captured. I also used some inspiration from the sketch itself by including a scallop border. To add some emphasize I added a few brads. For the journaling I used label stickers.

The second layout is about all the fun activities we did at my Mom's for the Fourth. There was swimming, homemade ice cream, yummy BBQ food, good company with Great Grandma and Grandpa C., and Captain got to feed all Grandma's doggies crackers. 

I loved this sketch's prompt to include a border on the right side. I used stickers and die cuts to make a border all about the holiday. I did add a small cluster of embellies on the left that was not on the sketch.

This last layout is about the fireworks and all my son's apprehension over them. Last year, he slept through on my chest outside. This year he didn't like the loud noises at all!! This coming fourth should be interesting.

For this 2pger I also used some stickers (I am really try to stretch my embellishment capabilities and use my stash!) and I really like how they came out after I pop-dotted them! I also die cut some flourishes.

Scapbook Layouts

Hi!!! I have several layouts to share! 

The first is from last week's Sketchy Thursday sketch. I went with a very colorful and fun layout. It features my son, as always, and his new favorite dog, Buddy. He loves my mother-in-law's dog because he doesn't mind Captain in his face insisting on licks. 

The sketch had a frame on it so I took a chipboard frame and painted it; then split it in half to add movement and flow to the pictures. I also added painted chipboard buttons and punched stars.

This one also features Buddy! A characteristic of Boston Terriers is to have snuffling, sniffing and running noses; this means Buddy is constantly making sniffing noises. I think it is just the cutest! And this is him, in action, on the 10th.

I misted the background with two different Glimmer Mists. I also die cut two frames (from Cricut Lite Playtime) and layered them. The circles are one inch and anchored with brads. The sun is a circle punched with scraps around it. The leaves are die cut from Cricut Stretch your Imagination. And I used my FAVORITE Basic Grey collection, Origins, to add to the spring feeling! I had a ton of fun layering, sprinkling my embellies and doodling!

This last sketch is for the Page Map Blog contest. I LOVE the sketch, but, if you know my style, I don't normally do one picture layouts. But, if I have a SPECIAL photo then I will do a one picture layout. And this ADORABLE photo of my son inside his kitchen cupboard was just the right picture!! He climbed inside his cupboard full of trinkets and treasures and then gave me the cheesiest face when he was caught! 

I used 8 one inch strips of various patterns. I also misted and inked the background. I then added layered circles and pop-dotted some of the stars. The 'dark' color scheme played into my son  always getting into mischief!!

***And just a NOTE I will be picking a winner at 10pm PST after I get my son in bed and myself settled :) Plus, it might take me awhile to add of the number of entries :) :) ***

Scrapbook Layouts

I am having a blast with my little man and these four days off from work. I still struggle with working and not being able to get the 2 hour break that nap time gives me. But, with these days off I have been in scrap overdrive!! Here are a few I finished this weekend! 

This first one is based off a sketch from Sketch Support. I kicked off the year with a BANG since I got to go shopping with my dear friend Jessica. And the BEST part was we had no kiddos!! 

I used a monochromatic color scheme of red and used neutrals. I doodled a border with added stickles to frame in the layout. I die cut the shopping bags and doodled on them to really make them pop!

This two pager was such a BLAST to make!! (once I got the hang of my trimmer) I used a Allison Davis Sketches for Scrapbooking sketch. I loved the idea of different sized paper strips especially since it went perfect with my theme of water and swimming.

I used THIS paper for the 'large pattern' indicated on the sketch and I made sure to cut away the non-glittery parts. I used some leftovers to make the embellishment block and pop-dotted some of the waves to add dimension. I also hand cut some cute fish- one Mommy fish and one Baby fish. (on a side note the fish also have significance since one of our favorite books is Hooray for fish which is about a Baby fish showing all his fish friends but his Mommy is the fish he loves the most!) 

For the embellishment and journaling block I also used some Eyelet Outlet water brads and 'quicklet' suns!

A final layout for this blog post is documenting my first 'real' conversation with my son. Back in October he was loved saying stick. He grabbed my wallet and starting taking the money out! I then asked "What do you want to buy?" He replied "Ick Ick" I then said "We can go in the backyard and get some for no money." He then gave me the SNORT face. 

I also used Heather Landry's sketch for my foundation. LOVE her sketches!! (especially since this one had a whole row of buttons!)

Scrapbook Layouts

I just LOVE owls and despite these pictures not being that great I had to scrap them! And I feel that if the pictures are important to you and your story then they should be scrapped regardless of quality. :) Like the journaling says, I become a little kid and could watch these owls all day!! These photos were taken at a local wildlife center.

I used the most recent Sketchy Thursday sketch despite the layout taking on a life of it own!! I choose to angle my photos to coordinate with the birds and their movement. And, if you are wondering, my color scheme is neutral for another challenge on scrapbook.com. Its a challenge hosted by my scrapper friend, Pat, and she picks 4 Monochromatic color schemes to challenge us.

I also matted the photos using a matted scallop paper and doodled two borders around them. I also did two clusters of embellies. I used Cricut Accent Essentials to make the vines. I also added flowers at the centers of the vines and 'sprinkled' some buttons.

The second layout is of my sister and son during August. After a fabulous underground tour of our local town we went to eat at the restaurant she works out. We were able to have her serve us and loved all over my son!

I made the flowers with Accent Essentials and layered the flowers. For the large flower the bottom layer is shadowed and then filled in with bling. The title die cut also has bling pearls around it. I used a Page Map for this one.

This last layout I had so much putting together! It is of my son and him cooling off during a walk on a hot September day. He loved dipping his toes and splashing all around.

I used a Nuts about Sketches sketch. I made a border of circles using 1.5" and 2" punches along with 1/2" die cut circles. For the smallest circles I added some rain dots.
